The Design Engineer will be responsible for all aspect of design, including process improvement, product drawings, tooling design and tooling manufacturing drawings. Working on projects for process & HSE improvements.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
Earliest start time is 6:30am, latest is 9:00am. Earliest finish time is 15:00, latest is 18:00. Working Monday - Friday with an early finish on Friday (12:00pm to 12:30pm).

Duties will include:
The day will start with checking e-mails and task logs from the previous day to check for outstanding activities to aid production
Attending any relevant pulse meetings
Continuing with project work, designing tooling, product development, manufacturing process improvement. Testing new products/tooling and analysing the test results
Launching new products into production, using our templates to define the manufacturing process and create detailed manufacturing settings for the operators to follow
Requirements and prospects
2D & 3D CAD design would be beneficial, but not essential
Drawing & sketching designs
Honesty, integrity and the ability to learn from mistakes without the stigma of making a mistake
The candidate will need to be enthusiastic about engineering, with an interest in design and 3D CAD design
As long as they are willing to try their best and learn from their peers, with an honest and open attitude, they will fit in to the Sandvik team
GCSE (or equivalent): maths, English, Science
This will be positive for the business, as we will be able to train and develop the apprentice into the role and allow them to perform & grow into an area of the business where we are lacking in resource.

Initially, the candidate will be spending time in manufacturing to gain knowledge of the manufacturing process, they will shadow operators and observe the process from start to finish.
They will be learning the design process. From designing new products and tooling. Creating engineering drawings for tooling manufacture and inspection drawings.
