Leonardo is an international leader in the development of cutting edge sensor products deployed across a wide range of airborne platforms for our Aerospace and Defence customers. Pushing the boundaries of technology, accuracy, and safety in engineering globally - our technology defines the capability of the Eurofighter Typhoon; our products help to return service men and women safely home; our surveillance radars help coastguards save lives at sea.
What type of work will I be involved in?
The role requires an experienced Supportability or Reliability, Maintainability and Testability (RM&T) Engineer/Analyst to work in our Integrated Product Team involved in the design and develop the next generation of Ultra High Performance Radar Systems, to ensure the supportability characteristics are understood and aligned to the operational and support needs.
The role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to use and develop their technical skills in various design phases of state of the art Radar technology and to create world leading highly available and capable integrated sensor systems for Future Air and Surveillance Programmes.
Great work life balance.
Life shouldn't be all work and no play. That's why we offer brilliant benefits like half days on Fridays, flexible hours, gym memberships, and many other incentives to make life great. Not to forget, our award-winning pension scheme.
Note, that due to the nature of the tasks involved, you will have to achieve full SC security clearance, and may need to satisfy further UK eyes only and ITAR conditions.
Key Responsibility Areas
You will report directly to the Lead Supportability Engineer, covering the Supportability Design elements of the Next Generation Typhoon E-Scan Radar Systems.
You will be responsible for;
Coordinating, verifying and delivering work-packages within a small team of specialised engineers to perform analysis of the RM&T characteristics of our new products and product upgrades.
Perform RM&T analysis on complex integrated systems using a variety of analytical techniques and procedures.
Helping team develop and honing their practical skills in the analysis of RF, Power, Digital and Electro-mechanical systems.
Working closely with Systems, mechanical, processing, RF and Electronics engineers to identify and avoid real support related problems on complex systems, before they reach the Customers environment.
Tapping into your engineering knowledge and experience, you will be able to supervise a small team of engineers and you will be responsible for planning and managing the work for yourself and your team
Present process/procedural improvements to the IPT in order to drive out cost and effort required to deliver the business needs.
Develop an deep understanding of the key elements of the support processes and Customer operational needs relating to the Next Generation of air platforms so as to develop equipment capable of meeting the needs of the future operational environments.
Will I have a specific role or can I move around?
We encourage our Engineers to find and follow their passion. We offer fantastic opportunities for learning, development and professional growth. Your career will be massively varied. Join us, and you will be constantly reinventing and developing your technical skillset from one project to the next. Learning on the job isn't just a benefit – it's a must.
Where is our Edinburgh site?
