Our Defence business provides Through Life Capability Management to military and government customers and we are looking for someone to join our increasing customer support and logistics team in Lee-on-Solent.
We are looking for people who can make a difference! With that in mind an exciting opportunity has arisen to join Britten Norman Defence. Due to ongoing growth we are now recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer to join us at our Lee-On-Solent based Defence team.
Purpose of the role
To provide senior technical support for a Military Technical Support Service (Mil TSS) contract with responsibility for aircraft structural engineering, on behalf of BN Defence.
Main tasks will include but are not limited to:
Acting as a Senior Engineer and a CVE to provide avionics guidance and assistance to the Mil TSS team.
Providing technical direction to the Mil TSS Team to obtain responses in a timely manner to any structural engineering Technical Query (TQ) from the customer in addition provide signature to TQ response for structural Queries.
Assist with the development of Mil Mod packages, either standalone, or based on BN civil design modifications.
Act as Board and Design signature for Structural Engineering in BN Defence.
Reviewing for acceptability all Unsatisfactory Feature Reports received from the customer and determining the correct course of action to resolve.
As requested, supporting the generation of Mil TSS quotes for the customer including, liaising with other parts of the BN design function as required.
Liaising with BN design function to ensure that the military design data set, does not diverge from the civil aircraft standard, unless agreed in writing by the BN design function.
Key Skills and Attributes:
Detailed knowledge of DAOS requirements and TAE RA 5000 series and Part 21J
Detailed knowledge of current airworthiness requirements (Def Stan 00-970, CS/FAR 23/25)
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both internally and externally to a wide range of people at all levels within the business
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Degree / HND / HNC in a related engineering subject
Engineering apprenticeship in aircraft or similar allied industries
Aerospace Design office and avionics design
Experience of dealing with MoD including MAA
Experience of dealing with CAA / EASA
Shop floor / manufacturing experience
