WHAT TO EXPECT
This role is a lead position for planning and technical support to deliver manufacturing production processes to enable successful launch of new products, ensuring feasibility of all processes to satisfy manufacturing build requirements and compliance with the Bill of Material (BoM). This includes the creation of process, delivery of tools, jigs & fixtures, quality, data analysis and reporting of major issues, deployment of failure mode avoidance tools, support of cross-functional teams in the resolution of those issues on projects and the tracking of resolution through to completion.
You will be part of the Planning team reporting to the Planning Manager and have management responsibility for two Manufacturing Engineers. The role requires collaboration across functions to ensure we have established compliance to deliver processes that meet our hours per car (HpC) and quality targets. It is also important for us to share best practice across the platforms and link into SO / CORE to ensure we employ the best processes available wherever possible that suit our Classic vehicles.
You’ll also need to
Project manage a team to plan, develop and implement all written Processes, Tooling, jigs and fixtures for new Classic programme and individual projects.
Generate build process strategies for manufacturing.
Co-ordinate process tooling supplier selection and vendor management.
Provide feasibility of all designs to suit manufacturing build requirements, Design for Assembly (DFA) and alignment to Bill of Process (BOP).
Ensure that team achieve process capability of all processes and equipment, including dimensional management applications
Ensure application of Lean Manufacturing and Design principles.
Drive quality planning and analysis for assembly.
Involvement in allocating the work through the development and monitoring of the teams objectives.
Manage technical issues though structured problem solving and escalate where appropriate.
Represent Operations planning at program meetings at all levels and present where applicable
Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time
Co-ordinate the development and submission of departmental responses to product letters, PACNS etc
Ensure the team support and lead build events, raising and managing issues where appropriate.
Co-ordinate the support of physical builds with production team, raising and managing issues where appropriate.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Relevant previous experience of Manufacturing / Engineering processes, tools and techniques
Knowledge of and involvement in product launches
Knowledge of and involvement in the product development
Leading a team and developing individuals
Ability to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with medium term planning
Ideally educated to degree level in Manufacturing Systems, similar engineering discipline or relevant industry experience 5yrs+
Previous experience of process planning and launch preferred
Previous experience of supervising a multi-skilled teams in Manufacturing
