Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):
This role requires the successful candidate to be able to define, communicate and implement Failure mode avoidance activities within Quality Engineering, to ensure our future products meet the increasing expectations of our customers.
Main duties include:
Drive and facilitate Failure Mode Avoidance activities (QHR, PFMEA / DFMEA etc) within theInterior & Safety BICEP
Ensure robustness of BICEP DVP
Support development of Project Robustness Assessment
Conduct virtual and physical fresh eyes / campaign prevention reviews
Concerns management and progression
Product and part Quality inspection process & standard generation
Support Quality attributes and reliability target definition & acheivement
Understand new vehicle system functionality and test / validation requirements
Ensure Vehicle validation processes are aligned with new vehicle content / techology
Ensure Engineering data / drawings / specifications are robust and will deliver a Quality product
Capture lessons learned within the BICEP to feed into project level events
Become subject matter expert within Quality department for Interior & Safety systems & techologies
Lead problem resolution and root cause activity using 8D / Six Sigma Methodologies
Support vehicle reliability evaluations with technical and diagnosis support
Support Supplier Quality Engineering in delivery fully approved components for new products
Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
HNC minimum in an automotive / Design discipline
Practical and theoretical knowledge of Failure Mode Avoidance tools & techniques
Experience of vehicle design and development processes
Knowledge of conventional and advanced propulsion systems & technologies either at OEM or 1st Tier Supplier
Degree in an automotive engineering or product design
OEM Experience of applying quality tools in design
Engineering design experience would be advantageous
Engineering design and part manufacturing process knowledge
Good IT presentation and report writing skills
Experience of Catia, Teamcenter, XFMEA
Analytical, structured, confident, with excellent communication skills.
Ability to work under own initiative or part of a team.
Must have a strong character in supporting visual debates
The willingness and ability to train others in this field
Build close working relationships with Powertrain Engineering and Test & Development teams and become a recognised quality expert in this field. Will require the ability to communicate and mediate at all levels to ensure the desired outcome is achieved.
Occasional travel to other sites / suppliers may be required.
Flexibility to work hours required to support project delivery potentially in multiple locations
