This role is part of the Samworth Brothers Group Health and Safety Function providing services and support to sites across the whole group. The team travel to sites, representing the group function, delivering services to contribute to creating a safe working environment for all.
This role will be responsible for carrying out PUWER assessments, including assessing the performance level of machinery, to help sites to identify the most cost-effective way of upgrading machinery where required. There will be a requirement to produce information and reports to inform Senior Managers and Directors of the activities around the programme, upgrades and cost estimates. You will be a point of advice and expertise around machinery safety as well as ensuring that supplier responsibilities are met with regard to new machinery, ensuring that the machinery purchasing process is robust and consistent to help to manage risk within the business.
The Right Person
You will be an enthusiastic individual able to work quickly and efficiently as part of a team and on your own initiative. In addition you will need:
An Electrical qualification at level 3 NVQ, equivalent or above is essential
A NEBOSH Certificate is desirable as is a CMSE (Certified Machinery Safety Expert) although training can be provided to the right person with a willingness to attend.
Experience of assessing or working with machinery and also the ability to interpret drawings and work with electrical panels is required.
Stakeholder management and excellent communication skills are essential
You will be part of a larger team but will need to be confident in working alone.
