We are looking for enthusiastic and talented individuals to join our Environmental Science team based in South-East England (other European locations would also be considered). This is a group that is expanding rapidly and we are looking for a number of roles to support the collection, integration and analysis of data in order to derive insights and intelligence for our clients.
As an integral member of our environmental science team we highly encourage the contribution of ideas and drive in the generation of new concepts.
We are looking for a number of roles including Environmental Scientists, Data Wranglers, Data Engineers and Analysts who have experience with projects integrating a large amount of environmental data.
There are a number of roles available, and the successful candidates may have a background in Environmental Science, Data Science, or a combination of both. Please specify your preferred role on the cover letter that you supply.
You will be experienced at working with environmental data, data processes, software and databases. The successful candidate will benefit from having some of the skills identified below:
Knowledgeable of specific hazards to the environment/health of Earth’s inhabitants and be able to create solutions to monitor them/protect the environment from them
Experience through own research to engage critically, practically and creatively with global environmental problems related to the intersection of the environment, business and society
Advanced problem-solving skills, especially focused on finding new solutions to data identification, ingestion, consistency, loading, and output problems
Active interest in the latest technology and open source trends
Advanced skills in Python or similar general purpose programming and scripting languages
Good understanding in statistics and machine learning model building
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VBA
Working knowledge of web-scraping approaches and technologies – eg. Beautiful Soup
Working knowledge of databases and SQL
Familiarity with data extraction techniques from a variety of file types
The ability to define and manage project deadlines
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
An enthusiastic attitude towards learning and flexibility to adapt to new challenges or changes in direction.
