BBC Rewind is an innovation team, tasked primarily with surfacing the BBC’s vast archive in new ways, for new audiences. The Rewind team is a hybrid of technical and editorial staff, has substantial reach and engagement, and is concerned with harnessing new technologies and digital platforms to serve the established audience, while placing particular importance on targeting younger people.
As part of the BBC Rewind software development team, the successful candidate will be working across a series of products. Project timescales can vary, as can the priority of one product over another. The result is a fast-paced environment subject to constant change and new challenges.
On a daily basis you will work closely with editorial staff, designers, software engineers and other stakeholders from across the BBC to capture and refine requirements to ensure all requirements provide value to the business and/or the BBC’s audience. You will organise, facilitate and document the outcomes of meetings and workshops whilst also assisting the Product Manager in the delivery and iteration of the Agile Development Lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to assist in testing the software from a business/end user perspective so that each requirement has been met effectively and follow up by conducting user acceptance testing and communicate the results back to the development team and Product Owner.
Are you the right candidate?
As the ideal candidate, you will be dedicated to building great user experiences for our audiences and internal staff. You will have experience of working as a Business Analyst (those with experience in Account Management, Test Analyst or equivalent will also be considered) in a software development setting and will be able to adapt how you work to suit who you are working with.
You will be willing to help make the change. Our processes work but that doesn’t mean they can’t be better. You will be able to identify areas for improvement and work with the team to make positive changes in the way we do things. All ideas are welcome.
You will also have the ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and concise manner (both written and verbal) to a variety of audiences.
We don’t work on just one project at a time. This keeps things interesting but also means that you have to have excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
