The Opportunity and Essential Responsibilities
The Detection and Response Practice is looking for a spirited UX Writer to create, plan, track, and help strategize Insight Agent documentation, as well as additional UX writing needs within the team. We're seeking a writer that deeply understands customer challenges, expertly leverages data to inform content decisions, and ensures that content is effective and contextual.
In this role, you'll partner with your practice counterparts to:
Create product documentation and UX content that simplifies and helps solve our customers' most complex cybersecurity problems.
Drive and execute the content strategy for the Insight Agent and additional Detection and Response content needs.
Drive meaningful outcomes that contribute to real customer success and company goals.
A Snapshot of the Work You'll Be Doing
As a UX Writer, your major areas of focus will be to:
Work within a customer-centric, outcomes-focused cybersecurity practice and build deep understanding of the cybersecurity user and their challenges, including threat detection and response, the incident response lifecycle, and risk management.
Craft content experiences, help identify documentation needs, and ensure a cohesive editorial tone across our product brand.
Partner across the Detection and Response practice to help proactively influence, manage, plan, and scope UX writing projects and practice-wide initiatives.
Collaborate across multiple practice and geographically distributed teams to unite writers as a collective, and ensure cohesive content experiences within our platform and brand portfolio.
Work with fellow UXers across practices to establish a tight knit culture of growth, learning, and strong UX advocacy.
You'll also work hand-in-hand with:
UX Designers to craft content experiences end-to-end that guide our customers to achieve their outcomes.
Product Management and Go-To-Customer experts to identify and balance documentation needs, business goals, and end-to-end content experiences that expand product knowledge for our internal and external stakeholders.
Research, Support, and Customer Success to understand how our customers actually use and deploy our products in the real world.
Visual Design and UX Engineering to work within and contribute to our design system, and ensure necessary content elements and editorial guidelines are available to PM, UX, and engineering partners.
Software Engineering with direct partnership and collaboration on technical details to understand what needs to be documented, how, and at what granularity.
Are passionate about technology and love to write about it. You have strong technical knowledge, and have experience with concepts like RegEx, Markdown, networking, APIs, and more. You can create documentation for internal and external audiences.
Are focused on solutions to customer needs, not just writing docs. You see the writing process and content strategy as a means to deliver value to our customers, and balance the right amount with your partners. You have the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Demonstrate a “growth” mindset and value collaboration over ego. You embody the “we” attitude, and you have the tenacity, humor, and people skills to work with and obtain information from a wide variety of team members.
Are a strong and dynamic communicator. You have the ability to tell a story, both written and orally, and craft a narrative that compels your audience, drives alignment, prompts action, and makes the customer's pathway crystal clear.
Have a strong sense of accountability. You have excellent time management skills, and hold yourself accountable to commitments. You actively communicate progress and solicit feedback on content deliverables.
Imbue energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity. You bring yourself every day, and embrace the “never done” mindset.
We are looking for a candidate that has 3-4 years of relevant experience in technical or UX writing; this includes holding previous roles as a technical content writer, technical communications, software engineer, or equivalent practical experience.
We don't require cybersecurity experience. It's a nice to have, but ultimately we're looking for someone with strong technical aptitude that can synthesize these complexities into usable and polished documentation and content solutions.
We need someone that can travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally. Rapid7 has 7 offices with team members present across North America and Europe. You'll work directly with team members located remotely and in Dublin, Ireland; Boston, MA; and Arlington, VA.
