Would you like to work in the environment of the Naval Base including historic assets with varied work packages and involvement from start of process to end of life? We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical Surveyor at our site in Portsmouth.
As a Mechanical Surveyor, you will be providing advice to the Engineering, Operation, Maintenance and Project teams on asset repair and replacement designs and methods and be responsible for the provision and presentation of scheduled Material state reports for Waterfront Mechanical assets.
This role will provide you with the opportunity for progression to Engineer.
Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Surveyor will involve:
Inspecting and writing technical reports on Lock & Dock mechanical material state matters as per the survey schedule
Providing technical advice to the Waterfront operations, Maintenance and Project teams
As part of the waterfront team, ensuring the Lock & Dock Infrastructure operations and Maintenance processes are fit for purpose
Attending regular Lock & Dock Review Meetings
Assisting with the writing of Asset Technical Specifications, Statement of Requirements and advising on generation of NB Asset Standards
Assisting with the writing of BAE Systems business cases
Having input into Lock & Dock Closures Mechanical Safe to Operate Certificates
Having input into the NB Saltwater System Investment Strategy
Your skills and qualifications:
Qualified to HND/HNC level or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
An experienced technician from a Mechanical and or Marine Engineering background
Requirement to work in Confined Space and Work at Height - essential to able to climb ladders 20-30 meter with emergency breathing apparatus, working with fall arrest systems, etc
Particular working knowledge of the Naval Base Lock & Dock and Saltwater Mechanical Systems
