Purpose of the Role :
The Quality Process Engineer is responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining standardised processes & quality standards for the purposes of inspection, validation and reporting from Quality Operations’ gateways distributed throughout MPC.
The Quality Process Engineer will additionally be responsible for the investigation and resolution of any failures in these processes, including any missed inspection topics.
The scope of this role is on New Model but may be required to support series from time to time.
Role Dimensions :
Provide first hand technical and process support in the development and execution of all quality practices.
Lead by example, working within own functional area as well as cross functionally (with ME, SQA, Production, Logistics, PVT).
Support and assist the quality operations leadership team to continuously improve Project execution, Safety, Quality, Cost Management, People Development and Delivery of throughput.
Scope, specify and support the delivery of best practices (e.g. Built in Quality) in alignment with both brand and plant expectations.
Ownership of KPI reporting for Quality Operations at both a local and plant level.
Analysis of data to highlight improvement opportunities and trends.
Day-to-day coordination the Torque Assurance process for MPC (process and response)
Leadership of the ‘Section Audit’ process within MPC
Provide tooling and maintain spare tooling levels to ensure Quality processes can be carried out.
Track calibration of all Quality operations calibrated tooling.
Principal Accountabilities :
Health and Safety
Support the implementation and ongoing use of safe working practices, including the correct specification of PPE for staff.
Support in the investigation of near misses and accidents
Support the specification of ‘smart’ quality targets, and ensure they are correctly reported and achieved.
Compile and maintain all Quality Operations’ Inspection and Validation Processes
Proactively update inspection processes and lists according to received customer data (MPA, PDI, 0-3MIS Warranty)
Support problem solving initiatives (e.g. level 0, PPS)
Implement customer containment actions and support Q-Spill / Gate Hold / Batch & Hold activities when needed.
Support all departmental CI initiatives and project manage when needed
Lead the MPC Torque Assurance process and performance monitoring
Create and circulate quality standards, care points and control requirements to production and other cross functional working teams.
Support line balancing, line layout and Manufacturing Engineering improvement strategies for MPC
Own the maintenance and update & any required investigation of vehicle traceability data, including the ‘MVP’
Project / Design & Development
Support D/PFMEA reviews as required on behalf of Quality Operations
Assist the control of cost drivers for the Quality department
Initiate cost control and cost improvement activities
Conduct work studies to routinely line balance and improve efficiency
Support in the achievement of the departmental budget
Raise and progress Purchase Requisitions and Orders on behalf of Quality Operations
Work cross functionally with the wider business organisation on behalf of Quality Operations, to ensure the smooth launch of new models and subsequent derivatives / model year changes, ensuring all quality, cost and volume targets are achieved.
