Would you like to play a role within the provision of our product and training services to help design and maintain new products and technology? We currently have a vacancy for a System Engineer at our site in Broad Oak.
As a System Engineer, you will be providing information and design input to enable the Systems Design Authority (SDA) to make system decisions regarding all systems aspects of training systems equipment, network and software design. You will be undertaking a ‘system of systems’ approach to analysis, design, test and integration between a mixture of synthetic and GFE equipment.
This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to work on multiple projects and the chance to progress within BAE and develop on pre-existing skillsets. You will have the opportunity to work with both internal and external stakeholders such as the System Design Authority (SDA).
Your main responsibilities as a System Engineer will involve:
Performing systems engineering tasks as directed by the project engineering manager or the System Design Authority (SDA)
Training systems equipment design, network design and software design (noting that the training systems are primarily software-intensive systems running on COTS), to include overall performance prediction and design of installations, to meet customer requirements within the budget available
Supporting decomposition of user requirements to sub-system level of requirements
Proposing acceptance strategies in order to allow the System Design Authority (SDA) to sell off requirements at all system levels
Specify interfaces with external systems and subsystems
Liaising with internal and external organisations including sub-contractors where required and production of appropriate procurement specifications
Proposing and supporting the development of system test and integration activities
Supporting reviews of work products from both site and engineering teams to ensure compliance to requirements and deliverables
Supporting bid solution design and estimating to ensure that bids capture all requirements, customer obligations, acceptance criteria and achievable solutions with acceptable levels of technical risk and conformance with Company and Product Policies and standards
Your skills and qualifications:
HND/Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject
Expertise in systems and/or software design
Previous experience or exposure to system integration
Previous experience and knowledge of training systems
Strong analytical skills
Previous experience or knowledge of electrical regulations, fire detection/suppression systems and HVAC systems
Previous experience in a defence or navy background
