Millbank are working a prestigious client that is currently looking to expand their contingent workforce.
We are looking for a Characterisation Engineer that will be based in Whitehaven.
This role is for a 6-month contract working inside the IR35 requirements.
Provide specialist characterisation advice and support to the company, projects and clients in the following areas:
Development and implementation of characterisation strategies.
Production, management, and delivery of sampling and analysis plans.
Development of Analytical Scopes of Work.
Assessment and interpretation of analytical data.
Recommendation of waste classification and waste disposition routes.
Participation and/or lead of BAT/Optioneering workshops.
Development of bids and proposals.
Work with projects and clients to help solve complex and challenging problems.
Ownership and management of packages of work.
Provide innovative solutions in area of expertise to help in the development and delivery of projects.
Lead and support other team members, sharing knowledge and experience.
Based out of the Whitehaven office (alternative locations will be considered dependent on experience).
Demonstrable experience in two or more of the following areas:
Application of the characterisation process for both radioactive and non-radioactive waste materials (inclusive of DQO).
Development and application of radionuclide fingerprints.
Knowledge and selection of radiochemical analysis methodologies.
Operation and interpretation of radiometric instrumentation data.
Development of activity assessment methodologies.
Usage of relevant software such as Microshield, Mercurad, VSP.
Management of radioactive waste on a nuclear licensed site.
Nuclear Industry Knowledge, with on-site experience at a Nuclear facility highly beneficial.
Knowledge of both radioactive and non-radioactive waste management legislation.
A good understanding of the waste routing options for radioactive and non-radioactive waste (inclusive of Waste Acceptance Criteria).
Reasonable level of commercial awareness and ability to work within budget and program.
Flexible in approach and willing to travel to work on client sites.
Interpersonal skills, able to build and develop relationships internally and externally.
Due to the nature of the business the ideal candidate may need to obtain UK security clearance.
