(Design, Deliver & Maintain Customer Control Room Solutions)
Reports to the National Customer Systems Engineering Manager
Manage contractors and suppliers
Problem management and resolution including liaison with the customer
Manage/work with engineering resource within the wider business
Provides ESN data centre support
Please Note: This role is a 18 Month Fixed Term Contract ( Employed)
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Work with customers to design and develop their technical requirements for new and additional solutions and services
Produce component requirements within project milestones and track subsequent changes
Produce and maintain Customer IP Plans to implement the overall Airwave IP strategy
Oversee the technical solution for delivery on all major projects
Work in partnership and manage suppliers to arrive at completed solutions
Conduct design reviews to formally validate design decisions
Place orders with suppliers through component engineers
Resolve technical problems using the most cost effective design, keeping the PM and line manager informed of progress
Carry out commissioning and acceptance testing to verify that the solution implemented meets the requirements
Provide the system design, drive the detailed design of bespoke systems for customer specific requirements
Raise cases and tasks to support any necessary work required under Airwave change control processes.
Oversee the configuration of the core network and customer specific equipment to implement customer requirements and formally document them
Support the network requirement to maintain the Primary and CHS cluster synchronisation of build and configuration
Support the Regional Maintenance teams to help resolve complex customer issues involving network or infrastructure problems
Supporting and coach team members (matrix and direct)
Supporting Business Continual Service Improvement initiatives
Providing Service Management consultancy to key business stakeholders
Attend customer meetings to support Business Relationship Managers and Sales to ascertain and manage service expectations and requirements
Produce customer manuals, documents and handover material
Work in a data centre environment, providing a first line response for hardware and infrastructure failures.
Working collaboratively with IT support, Technical and Application engineers to resolve complex issues
Person - Profile:
Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook.
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, good communication skills, both written and oral.
Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with customers.
Sufficiently mobile and flexible with full UK driving license, willing to travel away from home up to a few days each week within the UK as required.
Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability.
Academic and Technical Qualifications: (as specified or equivalent)
Extensive experience within a similar role plus a Degree or other IT specialty including Networking, Telecommunications or Radio Systems
Relevant qualifications such as Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCSE, Red Hat Linux Administrator, ESXi and VMWare
Electrical Qualification such as BS7671 (18th Edition)
Other technical expertise, experience and knowledge (desirable)
General understanding of fixed telecommunications networks and services
General understanding of Tetra PMR radio
Experience working in a data centre environment
