Our client, based in central Manchester, require a Senior Mechanical Engineer from the Building Services sector to assist in Statutory Compliance & legal provisions. This is a contract role and will involve working a 37-hour paying £22.24/hr (circa £43k per annum). The position could last for a number of months. The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of statutory compliance across their different sites.
In summary, this position would suit someone who has worked in a Building Services role who has solid mechanical engineering knowledge, with relevant qualifications & broad experience in the following areas; *Organising site inspections and managing contractors to maintain compliance. *Risk Assessments, Method statements & Safe systems of working/Permits to work. *Good knowledge of LEV systems, Pressure systems, LOLER and overall inspections. *H&S Regs knowledge (NEBOSH or IOSH qualified).
Desired Educational Requirements:
- Hands on engineering knowledge/apprenticeship. *Excellent mechanical knowledge as will be providing advice & guidance on statutory engineering including; Specialist compressed Gas Systems, Compressed Air and Vacuum Systems, Local Exhaust ventilation systems, RHVAC, Process water systems (Chilled & Heating), Chemical drainage discharge systems, pressure systems and lifts (lifting equipment). Duties will involve; *Oversee reactive works whilst making sure all compliance and legal provisions are met. *Reviewing of projects.
- Able to produce monthly reports related to ongoing compliance. *Identify risk areas and monitor to improve performance. *Ensure all Risk assessments are carried out and the correct documents are completed. *Manage contractors to meet PPM schedules.
*Chartered Engineer or Degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, building services or equivalent discipline. *IOSH or NEBOSH certification. Minimum Experience Requirements: *Comprehensive understanding of technical compliance services (fire system and extinguisher, pressure systems, water treatment, gas safe and inspection) within the Facilities Management or building services sector. *Strong IT, reporting and ideally presentation skills.
- Able to produce reports and other proposals. *Mechanical engineering background *Familiarity with certificates awarded in relation to all engineering works on site. For example, areas covered will include; Gas Safe/Inspection & Testing/Pressure Vessels & how these are to be structured within the PPM schedules.
