About the role
Here at Babcock International, we operate a significant outsourced contract for the provision of education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Babcock Trainers as well as training support. The contract is entering an exciting new phase with renewed focus on training innovation, optimisation and collaborative working and this role will provide the support and drive to achieve successful deliver of all aspects of the contract in this new phase.
Our Future Training Unit design, develop and deliver the training that ensures our Navy’s reputation as one of the best in the world. As the Navy’s capability is constantly evolving, we need a highly skilled team to ensure the training we deliver is fit for purpose.
Therefore, we are looking for a Courseware Developer to join the team and support the Lead Developer and Deputy Manager in ensuring effective and efficient delivery of the courseware for the FTU. You will develop innovative and engaging course content utilising industry-standard software / rapid authoring tools for delivery on multiple platforms. You will work with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs and devise modes of assessment to measure effectiveness of training, ensuring conditions and standards are met.
Conduct the maintenance and validation of training documentation, review and analyse TNA’s in accordance with mandated FTU Document and Review Management Plan
Monitor assigned courses to maintain accreditation requirements iaw FTU mandated policies
Collaborate with OEMs, external authorities and other third parties as required to ensure the efficient production of online content to budget and to an agreed timeline
Attend OEM Design Reviews, Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, to check training equipment compliance against agreed training requirements
Review product / courseware to ensure alignment with current requirements and standards

What do I need to do the job?
You will need:
Level 3 Certificate (or recognised MOD equivalent) in Education and Training
Comprehensive understanding of adult learning principles
Consolidated experience of DSAT (Defence Systems Approach to Training) and JSP 822
Experience creating engaging, effective multi-media training about complex technical topics
Experience in developing technology based design solutions (e-learning, multimedia)
What else do I need to know?
You will work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
