What to expect
This role is part of the site based Construction and Installation Engineers that are responsible for the on-site coordination of construction and installation works including, but not limited to organisation of manning, tools and equipment to complete the tasks. This will cover all aspects of mechanical, electrical, general construction and installation activities on the Manufacturing Plants or any other Jaguar Land Rover site.
This role will provide support to the Principal Engineers in terms of reviewing the scope of works, compiling the relevant construction and installation methods, and generating costs to complete the works.
This will involve the coordination of site activities, including liaison with the Principal Contractor, sub-contractors and Jaguar Land Rover personnel functions to enable works to be completed inline with all Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery constraints.
The role is also responsible for ensuring that all works have all the suitable H&S documentation – ie RAMS/Lifting plans and the like and are adhered to at all times.
This role will also be responsible for supporting the on-going development of the ‘in-sourcing’ / self sufficiency strategy through continuously reviewing and improving the process, methods and activities
Support the on-going development of the Self Sufficiency strategy
Attend Project meetings at all levels and present where applicable.
Feasibility of all installation and construction works to deliver practical and achievable work plans
Planning, developing and delivery of all relevant works activities
Contract manpower selection and sub-contractor selection and management.
Manage and control manpower availability and costs
Involvement in cross departmental planning requirements monitoring of timing plans.
Ensure adherence to project KPI’s deliverables.
Manage on-site technical issues and escalate where appropriate.
Undertake any other work as directed by manager their line in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.
What you'll need
Relevant previous experience of working on construction/installation site involving a combination of mechanical, electrical, construction works
Management of small trades teams
Flexible approach to job responsibilities and working hours
Demonstrable ability to create detailed and effective action plans
Ideally educated to degree level in Manufacturing, Construction or a similar engineering discipline
Knowledge of and involvement in preconstruction and construction, installation planning activities
Project management experience
