We have an opportunity for a Civil Engineer (Infrastructure - Aviation) looking for technically challenging work on cutting – edge projects; to join our established civil and ground engineering team.
The role will broadly cover civil design for site development projects including aviation and pavements.
- You will assist in the production of drawings, specifications and reports to support the project team[s].
- You will have demonstrable previous experience in the field of civil aviation.
- You will be committed to your own professional development, ideally be working towards an appropriate chartership and looking for challenging work to develop your engineering skills.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
You will have a degree in Civil Engineering and demonstrable experience in the airside infrastructure design to airfield design standards such as ICAO, CAP168, EASA and DIO;
In particular you will have competence in the detailed design of airside infrastructure;
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills (including formal and informal presentation, written communications and reports);
Ability to communicate technical issues to co-professionals;
Proven success of working in a team environment;
Able to take responsibility for own work (designs, 3D models, drawings, calculations, reports, etc) and that of junior/apprentice engineers and technicians. Would be required to self-check own work and check work of others to satisfy QA requirements;
Able to take responsibility for issuing work (design packages, 3D models, drawing production, basic calculations, etc);
Ability and familiarity in the use of Microsoft Office;
Ability to balance own workload against project requirements;
Proven success of working in a team environment;
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
Ability to work on multiple projects;
Flexible and mobile ie prepared to travel away from base. Must be willing to relocate to other Arup locations (national and international) for periods of time should the need arise.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
You will have experience of highways design;
You have experience of UK and international design standards and specifications. For example DIO, FAA, ATSM and DMRB;
You will have site experience on a live airside project
You will have Civils 3D modelling capability
