Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for Stress Engineer to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer – Vehicle Integration, this is a key role where the successful individual will work within the WAE Integration group and report into a wide range of projects.
The Stress Engineer will be responsible for proving and optimising a range of designs from initial concepts through to production. This will involve working closely with a range of customers from SME’s to major OEM’s to interpret their requirements and deliver engineered solutions within weight, cost and timing targets.
Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include: FEA analysis and optimization of high performance structural components and sub-assemblies in response to: service loads, crash, stiffness, NVH and Fatigue requirements. Working with a variety of material types; metallic, non-metallic, composite.
The Stress Engineer will be able to take decisions based on analysis in order to provide guidance on design maturation, and will attend design reviews to present design ideas and to discuss and critique alternative design solutions.
The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of Stress analysis tools & processes and be able to adapt to mechanical & composite systems as projects dictate, as well as having a degree in mechanical, automotive or aerospace engineering.
The Stress Engineer will require experience of structural analysis in one or more of the following branches: dynamic, static and modal and good Stress literacy in the main automotive/aerospace FEA software packages including one or more of the following: Abaqus, LsDyna, NASTRAN, Altair Hyperworks.
Experience in the automotive industry of fatigue analysis and the use of commercial tools such as nCode and FEMFAT would be advantageous (or being able to show that your fatigue experience in another advanced engineering environment is transferable).
Working knowledge of CATIA V5, Siemens NX or TeamCentre and experience in the specialist automotive or motorsport industry would be advantageous.
