The School of Chemistry in the University of St Andrews is seeking a person to provide support to the central analytical services in the School.
The role will involve the oversight, maintenance and use of a variety of different instruments to characterize chemical compounds, including powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, porosimetry and gas adsorption, UV and infrared spectroscopy and several other techniques. The successful candidate will be charged with oversight of the booking and use of the instruments by the research workers, and with the upkeep of the instruments through liaising with instrument vendors, engineers, users and others.
The successful candidate will likely have a degree in a science subject and demonstrate good practical skills, and also demonstrate a willingness to become involved in design and analysis of experimental results obtained by the service.
