We are looking for a Thermal Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth. You will join our Stress & Thermal group and report to the Team Lead.
In Portsmouth, we design, develop, build and test advanced and complex satellite payload networks and equipment. The Stress and Thermal Group is part of the Mechanical Design Office and proves the flight worthiness of all equipment produced by the MDO.
You will perform primarily thermal analysis on telecoms satellite payloads. This will involve the thermal analysis of complex waveguides, cable networks, associated RF equipment, as well as discrete electronic payload devices.
You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
Tasks & Accountabilities
Conducting detailed thermal analysis using FEA software
Support the Analysis Team Lead, work closely with the CAD Design / Project Design teams and supervise subcontract analysts on major projects
Be the signatory for the thermal analysis aspects of waveguide and equipment design, including electronic sign-off and written reports
Work to project design release targets
Get involved in process improvement initiatives by bringing new ideas to increase efficiency
Skills & Experience
Experience in an aerospace or high tech / quality manufacturing environment
Experience in finite element thermal analysis and ideally also finite difference analysis
Working Knowledge of thermal software. eg. FEMAP TMG
Demonstrable experience of working on manual and automated meshing techniques
Experience of showing innovation and bringing new ideas/technologies to improve ways of working
