This role offers someone interested in a career within the engineering sector a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop their skills by gaining real, on the job training across our CNC Milling, Turning and Quality departments, also having the opportunity to learn about manual methods, including grinding and also Electronic Discharge Machining.

Whilst completing the apprenticeship, it is expected that the individual will:
Operate CNC Machine tools
Learn to Set and eventually on machine Program CNC machine tools
Learn to offline program using CAM and use CAD software
Learn about speeds, feeds, work holding and tools
Learn to, and practically deburr finished and part machined components
Learn to read and understand engineering drawings and terminology
Insect their own work using hand measuring equipment
Spend time within the quality department and learn about more in-depth measuring techniques including CMM machines
Become familiar with the company’s quality and health and safety procedures and work withing the boundaries of them
Learn about good housekeeping
Identify opportunities for improvement
Maintain safe working practices and high standards of housekeeping
Work to required deadlines in line with customer requirements
Become part of the engineering team and develop a long term career.
The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to the post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed.
The Level 3 Engineering Technician - Machinist standard is primarily delivered in the workplace with 1 day a week attendance at college. Should you not possess suitable concession qualifications, you are also required to attend college to undertake Functional Skills Qualifications.

It is intended, providing you successfully complete your apprenticeship, that the successful apprentice(s) will become permanent members of staff, potentially offering opportunities within the business, including CNC Programmer, Offline Programmer, Quality Inspector, Section Leaders, Management Roles etc.
Things to consider
Applicants will need to be physically fit as the job includes a lot of standing and lifting heavy tools, equipment, materials and products.
Overtime will be made available at times, and in certain periods the successful applicant(s) will be encouraged to partake in extra work hours.
The role will require some computer use, so a working knowledge of IT would be an advantage.
Mussett is located in an area where own transport will need to be considered.
The nature of the job role dictates that you will be working in a oily workshop environment which may be affected by extremes of temperature at times.
Holiday entitlement is 32 days per annum which includes and allowance for bank holidays.
A contributary Pension scheme is available after successful trial period.
Wages are paid monthly by bank transfer.
