Having secured a number of long term Frameworks with key clients, AmcoGiffen are further expanding our in-house Design team. We have a number of positions available at various levels for engineers who are committed to delivering the optimum design solution, building on their experience, and furthering their professional development.
The in-house design team consists of specialist designers at various levels of competency responsible for design engineering on a variety of telecoms, civils, rail and engineering projects and frameworks including CP6, asset management contracts, infrastructure projects and tendered rail / civils schemes, telecoms projects and frameworks etc.
We are seeking an experienced Principal Telecoms Engineer for the In-house Design Team to further support AmcoGiffen in undertaking Telecoms Design works throughout the UK.
This is a lead role within the In-house Design Team, responsible the management of technical aspects of engineering projects in addition to programming, resource allocation, budgetary control, managing customer satisfaction, reviews, coaching and recruitment.
As Principal Telecoms Engineer, your day to day role will include:
Lead the resolution of any compliances with CDM Regulations.
Provide strong leadership and motivation of teams, carrying out scheduled performance and development reviews for direct reports.
Induct new members of staff as required.
Carry out the duties of Telecom Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) as required.
Manage all Telecom engineering activities on relevant stand alone and multi-disciplinary projects to meet programme, technical, safety and environmental requirements.
Manage the design elements ensuring they meet the requirements of current legislation, including construction design management (CDM2015) and CSM-RA regulations.
Provide technical advice in respect of all construction activities, including testing and commissioning and site supervision.
Provide Technical input into tender opportunities
Full appreciation of other disciplines influencing Telecoms design this being signalling, E&P, Pway OLE, Civils. Good interaction and engagement with planners, estimators, procurement in order to provide the most effective solution in the most effective way maintaining technical requirements throughout the whole design process.
Identifying opportunities for value engineering
Reviewing documentation and records as required with a view to increasing overall efficiency.
Managing financial and commercial aspects of projects ensuring that these delivered to agreed budgets.
Provision of regular financial and programme progress reports to the Head of Design, advising variations on costs/forecasts as appropriate.
Recognising financial risks, problem issues and potential overspends and reporting them to the Engineering Manager / Project Manager / Contract Manager.
Instructing and leading teams to produce design deliverables in compliance with industry standards and to AmcoGiffen’s procedures.
Develop, build on and manage relationships with Internal and External Clients / Stakeholders, including discussing feedback with Clients to ensure a good relationship.
Promote a culture of excellence in AmcoGiffen Design & Engineering towards its customers in order to exceed their expectations, and fulfil the vision of becoming the consultant of first choice.
Maintaining timesheets on a daily basis and submitting to required timescales, and reviewing/approving timesheets submitted by others.
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Principal Design Engineer in a rail project environment.
Minimum IEng/CEng level of education.
Chartered Member of a relevant Professional Body.
Sentinel Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence in both AC and DC.
Telecoms engineering project design experience
