Position Title: Junior Process Engineer
KBR’s global business comprises two main segments – Government Solutions (GS) and Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS). This role sits within STS in the Technology business unit. The Technology business unit is a leading global provider of innovative, proprietary process technologies and catalysts used across numerous downstream industries. KBR technologies are known for producing clean, sustainable end products, mitigating environmental impact and reducing operational hazards.
As a junior process engineer you will be responsible for the study, design, and process specification of equipment, piping and instrumentation related to processing plants such as syngas, ethylene, organic chemicals and refined products, and more specifically hydrogen and ammonia.
The position is ideally based in KBR’s Leatherhead Campus. Flexible working can be discussed.
Working as part of a friendly team under the supervision of senior process engineers, you will contribute to and assist in the production of the following:
Perform screening, feasibility and conceptual studies for revamping of existing plants, designing of new plants, developing new process schemes, improving existing process flow sheets.
Development of process simulations to produce heat and material balances.
Development of process flow sheets and utility flow diagrams.
Development of equipment process data sheets.
Calculations for the preliminary design or rating of equipment and apparatus such as heat exchangers, vessels, reactors, etc. and development of preliminary system design parameters.
Preparation of process hydraulic calculations for pump and line sizing.
D egree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
Collaborative team player.
Excellent technical skills and attention to detail.
Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills.
Articulate communicator who is comfortable clients facing.
Experience in process simulations.
Working knowledge of process engineering software packages, e.g. AspenPlus, Hysys, Pro/II.
Awareness and consideration of Environmental, Health and Safety importance.
Experience working as a graduate process engineer following an accredited development scheme or other relevant equivalent experience.
Knowledge of process related standards.
Experience in syngas technology (ammonia, hydrogen, methanol) is most preferred, but experience in refining and olefins technology will also be considered.
Familiarity with operating hydrogen and/or ammonia plants would be considered as a plus.
