We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineer to join our specialist hydraulics team to help support our appointments as a strategic partner by key Clients. This role can either be based in our Leeds or Warrington office. We are seeking a hydraulic engineer to help deliver our projects and bring specialist skills and experience to both infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes.
This role will contribute to the Stantec’s business goals by providing technical solutions and advice. It will also assist Project Managers, Technical Leaders and Team Leaders by providing technical expertise to ensure that projects are delivered to technical and quality standards to meet both client and Stantec expectations.
To work on projects across the water, wastewater, energy, process and infrastructure portfolios.
Provide technical inputs and guidance for all types hydraulic structures and systems, including; surveys, hydraulic studies, hydraulic analyses, designs, reports, performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
Work on steady state (open channel and closed conduit), rapid and long term transient hydraulic studies. Also, to be involved with the production and management of physical scale modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) commissions.
Develop relationships within the industry and wider Stantec fluid mechanics community.
Use appropriate software to provide advice, solutions and successful outcomes for our clients.
Maintain up to date technical knowledge and CPD relevant to the role.
Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
Actively and appropriately contribute to client meetings as required.
Hydraulic Engineer - Leeds or Warrington
Working towards Chartered Engineer or equivalent and member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE, CIWEM IChemE, etc.)
Experienced within the water industry with demonstrable experience in hydraulic engineering/fluid mechanics.
Good level of client service management i.e. ability to build and maintain positive relationships with Stantec Clients.
Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office and design software packages.
Experience in the use of relevant hydraulic analysis software.
Experience of Hades steady state hydraulic software or similar would be an advantage.
Experience with Varisim surge analysis software or similar would be an advantage.
Experience with Flow 3D CFD modelling software or similar would be an advantage.
Strong communication and report writing skills – both written and oral
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to undertake multiple projects or tasks concurrently.
