As a Scientific Analyst you’ll act as a critical partner between R&D, our IT platform teams and developers. You’ll be working closely with scientists to understand, capture and analyse their needs and create user stories that will drive our Agile development work.
You will rapidly understand the scientific context and the ‘bigger picture’ and constructively challenges stakeholders to hone their thinking to focus on the needs rather than the wants. Your experimentalist mindset and willingness to try things out will inspire others as you innovate and learn together.
As a subject matter expert, you’ll clearly and concisely communicates needs and priorities to technical delivery teams, including architects and developers whilst maintaining your tight link with your scientific customers

Primary point of contact between R&D and technical teams
Formally documenting requirements/user stories so that they remain understandable for the business to subscribe to, while sufficiently comprehensive, structured and technically oriented to be translated into technical solutions by the development team
Ensure adherence to Agile methodologies and internal standards
Prevents scope creep and acts as a gatekeeper against changes in definition
Leads requirements gathering workshops and meetings
Manages the product backlog with the Platform Manager and Platform Owner
Work closely with offshore development teams through daily stand-ups and backlog refinements
Liaise with other analysts to share experiences, skills and innovation across IT
Highlights risks as they become evident
Participates in testing of features prior to release
2-3 years delivering computing solutions
2+ years experience working in an Agile ( ideally DevOps ) environment desirable
2+ years experience working in life sciences R&D desirable
Awareness of emerging technologies
Consensus builder across diverse interest groups
Influencer with excellent communication skills
Self motivated and proactive, ability to anticipate issues early
Ability to manage complexity and uncertainty
Some travel to other Syngenta sites will be required, including international travel
Critical knowledge and education
University Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Strong customer focus, communication, teamwork and negotiation skills
Knowledge of user stories and requirements gathering techniques
Advances in technology and science in the external world
Act on your own with minimal guidance in a complex scientific or business sustainability environment while still ensuring full compliance with all internal and external standards
