Digital Technology Services supports the University of Reading with centralised IT infrastructure and an important component is the provision of high-quality network services and management of all local and wide area network connections, fixed-line voice networks, associated hardware, software and communication infrastructure. The role of the Network Engineer is to assist in the provision of these services and to contribute to a variety of capital projects across the University delivering network services.
The Infrastructure Team is responsible for the day-to-day management of both wired and wireless services and associated support services such as DNS, DHCP and RADIUS. This role is responsible for troubleshooting network performance issues, analysing network traffic and providing capacity planning solutions and to provide technical support and maintenance of these services, to provide planning and development support and to take responsibility for service delivery.
You will have:
Experience in operating in an Enterprise sized environment.
Current JNCIA or equivalent certification
Experience of automation technologies
Excellent documentation skills
Experience of working with Clearpass or equivalent technology.
Whilst initially remote this role will be primarily based on our Whiteknights campus
