Howdens Joinery are looking for a Manufacturing Improvement Engineer to identify and implement process reliability and efficiency improvements. This is a permanent position based at our site in Howden, East Yorkshire.
As a member of the Manufacturing improvement team, you will be required to work directly with the manufacturing and maintenance teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Whilst being capable of identifying and implementing machinery solutions to provide sustainable efficiency gains, focus must also be maintained on operator engagement and adherence to product quality standards and safe working procedures.
As a Manufacturing Improvement Engineer, you will have the confidence and expertise to engage with key stakeholders, using your knowledge and experience to influence and challenge in an appropriate and confident manner. People management and relationship building at all levels from operating teams to senior management is an essential part of this role .
Required Key skills and experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Engineering Degree, or significant similar experience.
Ability to deliver breakthrough improvement projects in high volume manufacturing environments.
Identification of process and machinery improvements through route cause analysis.
Implementation of solutions from concept through to trials, commissioning, validation and sign off.
Demonstrated success in multi-function team engagement, including mentoring and empowering others to lead and deliver improvements.
Demonstrated positive personality with focus on what can be achieved.
Additional Desired skills and experience:
Ability to utilise and champion LEAN / Six Sigma /KAIZEN / Centre lining techniques.
Understanding of HSE requirements within a manufacturing environment including latest machinery standards.
Track and communicate results at all levels within the business
Resource plan definition and management of sourcing options
Lean six sigma black belt
Working towards or hold IEng or CEng
Experience in 3D design (Solid works or similar) - modification of existing equipment through hands on process analysis and detailed design improvement
