To provide mechanical design engineering support to the Sales, Engineering, Product Development and Project Management activities of the company. With a focus on Aftermarket Bills of Material and OE documentation.
Working in a team based environment consisting of Project, Design, Mechanical and Hydraulic Engineers in support of engineered pumps and pump packages.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Review mechanical integrity of proposed engineered pumps and pump packages.
Highlight variations in required engineering hours and manufacturing processes from standard product to allow facility to provide accurate costing and lead time.
Provide support for any mechanical queries from North America sales team.
Perform bearing and mechanical load calculations.
Create standard design engineering tools and calculators to support upfront engineering.
Perform pressure vessel calculations in accordance with ASME BPVC Section VIII.
Ensuring compliance with internal engineering standards and industry and customer specifications
Create, check and approval of 3D CAD models and layouts.
Analysis of pump, ancillary components and structures and drive train rotor analyses including torsional and lateral critical speed calculations.
Liaise with customers and suppliers worldwide on mechanical design matters, ensuring specification compliance, integrity of interfacing information and sound engineering practice is being applied.
Liaise and assist the chief engineer on mechanical concerns and integrity.
Provide feedback for process improvement within the ClydeUnion/SPX organization.
EDUCATION , SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
BEng/ MEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar (Science based, Maths based or other Engineering discipline)
Minimum 4 to 6 years experience in design and application of complex equipment
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solidworks packages for drafting purposes
Ability to pick up new knowledge quickly
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Experience with ERP system (ideally SAP)
Technical Specification definition and validation of that spec.
Problem Solving (evaluating, investigating, creating innovation), including RCAs
Nice to have
Experience based in rotating equipment
Knowledge of the design requirements of API610, API682
Familiarity with Oil & Gas customer specifications.
Knowledge of Hydraulic Institute standards
Ability to interpret pump test curves and technical drawings, following training
Aftermarket or Service work support
Casting knowledge and experience
