We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Highways Roads Manager to support our Midlands multi -disciplinary engineering and project management team on a permanent basis.
You will have the opportunity to lead a small team in our Cirencester Office which delivers day to day support to the Client on the A419/A417 DBFO Contract. Although based in Cirencester; the team forms part of the Midlands highways division based in Birmingham/Tewkesbury, which supports the Cirencester team with design services and is over 100 people strong. The greater team represents a diverse range of ages, nationalities, experience and ambition, and we require an enthusiastic individual to join this team, to help deliver an excellent service to the client.
The people we employ demonstrate the behaviours, accountabilities and skills described below; and we are looking for a person that can deliver these requirements:
A typical week would include:
Health & safety (inc. CDM 2015), application, control and monitoring of safety management systems;
Production and review of Risks Assessments and Method Statements;
Managing the day-to-day operations of the A419/A417 DBFO project;
Quality management, application and monitoring of the quality system including environmental;
Liaison with emergency services, Highways England, local highway authorities and, as instructed by the Client, members of the public on operational matters to include duty call out and winter management duties (October – April);
Winter maintenance – take the lead and ensure winter service delivery is delivered as per the contract requirements;
Developing and maintaining an effective team working across the site team and other areas of the WSP organisation to ensure the delivery of the full range of services to the Client;
Liaising with, advising and maintaining effective working relationships with the Client on operational, contractual and financial matters;
Carrying out regular reviews of project delivery with the Client to gather feedback and service improvement initiatives;
Manage and ensure compliance with core duties as defined within the Contract;
Network Occupancy Management Plans, Network Event Manager (NEMS)& Road Space Booking, managing, supervision and assisting of Highways England procedures;
Assessment – including budget/estimates, planning, programming and supervision of routine planned and cyclic maintenance works;
Managing the Term Maintenance Contract, monitoring and reporting performance, overseeing, and the supervision and approving of works and verifying Contractor’s valuations;
Inspection of highway infrastructure (detailed, safety and general inspections of carriageways drainage and street furniture etc.) including TRMM/R&WSC detailed walkthrough inspections, and associated night-time inspections and that all such inspections are recorded;
Collection and management of inspection data and inventory updates and recording on GEOMM (Computer based system);
Assessment and ordering remedial works using computerised ordering system (Raising Works orders); and preparation of reports, including CAT 1, logging defects in a computer-based record system;
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
A degree or equivalent in civil engineering or another relevant discipline;
Membership or working towards membership of a chartered / incorporated status (or equivalent) of a relevant professional institution / or can demonstrable appropriate technical and managerial experience;
Previous experience in highway maintenance, emergency and winter operations;
Team and project management; and Desirable use of Highways England NEMS/NOMS & HAPMS and other data systems; and
Full Driving Licence.
