Reviewing any modifications/changes to the fleet that have operational impact and liaising with the fleet Technical Pilots to ensure operational manuals reflect the status of the fleet.
Ensure the relevant sections of the company Operations Manuals relating to Performance and Weight and Balance are updated.
Ensure Aircraft Flight Manual revisions are released in a timely fashion and all compliance requirements are actioned.
VAA MELs and CDLs remain up to date, within the regulatory timeframe with MMEL revisions, regulatory policy and VAA policy and procedure changes.
Manage the departmental policies for updating relevant computerised systems and databases.
Ensure VAA computerised performance applications contain the most up to date data (VAA policy, airport/runway data/aircraft performance databases).
Ensure policies relating to VAA aircraft performance and weight and balance remain compliant with regulatory requirements. Review changes to applicable airworthiness and operational regulations for changes affecting aircraft performance, weight and balance and load control policy.
Undertaking performance analysis to support strategic and tactical decision making. This includes assessment of aircraft capability on new & existing airfields and routes to support new route assessment, charter flight assessment, aircraft deployment strategy and cargo sales strategy.
Maintain the engineering weight and balance data for our fleet, including tracking of engineering modifications and managing the definition of the centre of gravity envelope curtailments.
Ensure weight and balance systems contain the most up to date data through AHM updates.
Monitor aircraft modification weight and CG change status to ensure revision of aircraft Weight and Centre of Gravity Schedules when applicable limits are reached.
Support the management of VAA weight and balance control. Establish the Basic Weight / Index of new aircraft and update in-service aircraft through tracking of modification status and as a result of scheduled weighing.
We are looking for candidates who possess an aeronautical / aerospace engineering degree (or equivalent) and experience in an airline Flight Operations Engineering environment would be beneficial. Knowledge of regulations relating to aircraft performance and weight and balance is desirable.
You must be thorough, detailed and analytical in approach to work with an ability to provide innovative solutions to problems. Strong demonstrable negotiation and interpersonal skills are essential, with excellent verbal and written communications skills. You’ll have the ability to work well on your own initiative or as part of a team, as required.
You’ll need to be flexible, with the ability to adapt and respond to changing demands whilst working under pressure.
The successful candidate will have excellent numerical skills with focus on accuracy. Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications are a must.
