Our Horticulture facilities at our main campus at Plumpton College are set within one of the finest natural locations in the country, nestled in the South Downs. Our team has also reinvented the walled garden of “One Garden Brighton” within Stanmer Park, with a campus on site and a living classroom which showcases innovation. This wealth of facilities enables us to host a broad range of high-quality horticulture courses for full and part time courses at a wide range of levels across both locations.
Our Forestry and Arboriculture department has excellent equipment and access to a variety of locations including farmed land, hedgerows and streams both at Plumpton College and through our links with local land owners and estates. In addition, our superb site at Flimwell features working commercial woodland and a modern workshop. We offer full time and part time courses up to Level 3 as well as Apprenticeships.
Animal Management is the largest division at Plumpton College and we are very lucky to have an extensive animal collection with a wide range of exotic, small and large animal species at the centre of our animal management provision with students learning from Level 1 to BSc (Hons).
Our Motor Vehicle students learn in our modern, fully equipped workshops, being offered a range of vehicles to work on and the latest equipment to help them achieve in the Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair syllabus. Our motor vehicle learners are aged 14+ learning from Level 1 to Level 3.
We are delighted to work with the Education & Training Foundation who are supporting us to attract experienced industry professionals with at least 3-years’ experience in industry who can bring their expert technical knowledge and skills to work in Further Education. The ‘Taking Teacher Further’ programme is a national initiative funded by the Department for Education which will support successful candidates in achieving the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) or an equivalent/ higher level qualification as well as enabling the college to support you with a reduced timetable and opportunities for work shadowing and mentoring.
