To support manufacturing, program and continuous improvement disciplines in providing cost effective manufacturing processes for new and existing programs.
To implement and manage manufacturing systems to ensure a defect free product from all manufacturing areas. Key Responsibilities
Investigate opportunities for improvement in support of improving business operations and efficiency, in accordance with departmental targets.
Compile cost justification packs with associated paybacks for capital investments.
Ensure operator interactive processes are ergonomically sound through ergonomic risk assessment and best practices.
Provide data analysis and data capture in support of departmental/business projects.
Support program management with NPI and engineering change activities in order to deliver ‘flawless launch’ of customer programs.
Support the PM to monitor, and maintain responsibility for funding against the program engineering budget.
Raise orders from supplied program funding for all project specific engineering activity.
Present status of Program’s at key milestones and Launch Review stages to internal and external stakeholders.
Support quality and manufacturing functions in problem resolution and 8D process.
Support maintenance department in technical problem resolution.
Support C.I. department with lean and Six Sigma projects.
Review lessons learned from previous/similar program & carry over best practices into launch.
Lead & direct VA/VE activities. Key Qualifications/Requirements
Proven experience within Manufacturing Engineering, preferably within 1 st tier / OEM automotive.
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies, APQP, CI, VSM.
Proven project management experience with a focus on capital projects and assets.
Self-motivated/self-directed i.e. able to work independently of others if required, with minimal supervision.
Budget Planning, Cost Tracking experience
Direct experience of APQP, PPAP (including Control Plans, PFMEA)
The ability to coordinate others through delegation, clear direction, and performance management to achieve business objectives.
The ability to communicate clearly in a variety of settings.
Experienced and dynamic in approach and execution in order to deliver ‘flawless launch’ of customer programs.
Good understanding of automotive manufacturing, planning, packaging and logistics systems and technologies.
Working knowledge of various software programs e.g. Excel, Microsoft Project; high comfort level using databases and spreadsheets.
Awareness of 5s disciplines.
