How you will help us to make Zzoomm awesome….
You will be working as part of a fibre installation and maintenance team engaged in blowing fibre optic cables between Zzoomm communication cabinets (Gateway, Access and Local Drop Cabinets) using preinstalled ducts. Once the cables are installed you will be responsible for splicing, terminating and testing the end-to-end integrity of the fibre installation.
We will rely on you to ensure that our fibre network is installed to the highest standards, you will take pride in the quality of your workmanship.
Our Zzoomm network will be built in urban and sub-urban areas which means that your working environment will be where people live and work. That means that you are the face of Zzoomm during the fibre installation phase and we will rely on you to minimise the disruption that our work will cause and do everything you can to promote a positive image and develop good relationships with local residents.
A day in the life of the Fibre Engineer....
You will travel to sites where our build crews have recently installed cabinets, chambers and buried ducts and you will blow fibre optic cables through the ducts to connect the network components together. You will be following a fibre cabling plan provided by our Design function and once installed, you will carry out all necessary splicing and termination and then carry out a set of tests that will confirm the integrity and conformance to standards of each fibre section.
You will be expected to install and terminate fibre optic cables in absolute conformance to Zzoomm standards and take pride in the quality of the work you do. We will expect you and your colleagues in the fibre installation crew to work in such a way that disruption to the public is minimised and every opportunity to show Zzoomm as a considerate organisation is taken and our reputation is enhanced.
As Zzoomm Is a start-up Company, there will be a need for all employees to be prepared to work flexibly from time to time to get things done. We will all succeed by working as a team and with every Individual contributing their skills and experience as needed.

Carry out fusion splicing on fibre optic cables
Carry out OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) testing
Carry out Blown Fibre installations
Terminate fibre optic cables in Cabinets to a high standard of neatness, clear labelling and properly dressed in fibre trays.
Complete Installation of Customer Termination Points
Complete Proving of Network Infrastructure

NRSWA unit 2
A valid CSCS card would be an advantage
Clean UK driving licence (Category B and C1+E)

Zzoomm was founded by Matthew Hare, Chief Executive, in December 2018, to bring full fibre to homes and businesses across the UK. Matthew is a veteran of the UK fibre infrastructure industry. He founded rural full fibre operator Gigaclear PLC in 2010 and was Chief Executive until the takeover by Infracapital in 2018. During 2018, he was recognised for his contribution to the development of full fibre networks with the award of European Fibre Executive of the Year, an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours and UK Internet Services Executive of the Year 2018.
