About the role
Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Works Drainage Engineer to join our team to work across the West Midlands.
What you'll be doing
As a Temporary Works Drainage Engineer you will:
Design of Temporary Drainage using hydraulic models (Micro-drainage software) where necessary;
Communicate the level of risks to ensure the design standard is appropriate and risks are acceptable and manageable. Risks include surface water flooding of BBV works; flooding outside of working areas impacting others; contamination of receiving watercourses;
Initiating and leading meetings/discussions with third parties (Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authority, Highways Authorities) supporting the BBV Consents team;
Working jointly with the BBV Consents Team to ensure consents are submitted and granted to meet construction programme and requirements;
Production of deliverables (models, model outputs and drawings) to support consents. Includes supervision of CAD resource and check / review of drawings before issue.
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities and Experience:
Large scale linear project experience (rail and highways or similar);
Working knowledge of UK methods and legislative requirements for surface water drainage design;
Expertise in hydraulic modelling using Micro-drainage software (by Innovyse) or similar;
Experience drainage design on a linear project;
Good communication skills including with key stakeholders and consenting/approval bodies;
Understanding of Designer duties under CDM 2015

42 viaducts totaling over 11km, 66 over-bridges;
More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km;
56 culverts and other under-bridges;
66 embankments reaching over 33km;
Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures and six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and over-bridge structures.
