Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):
This role is vital in support of Lotus' renewed Product Offensive. It will enable us to deliver our new Projects in line with our budget requirements, profitability targets, and our commitments to our largest shareholder, Geely Group. Success here will guarantee the future direction of the Business and offer-up ongoing opportunities both within Lotus and the Geely Group 'Family'.
Responsible for the trackingand verification of the whole vehicle BoM part by part Financial statusagainst an agreed control model: working closely with stakeholders inProgramme, Purchase and Finance to deliver a thorough and robust reportingcadence, as well as capturing change content movement, Risks &Opportunities and gap closure plans. It also includes significant developmentopportunity to increase your cost estimation skills and move them to the nextlevel, as well as a chance to enhance your understanding of full vehiclecomponent sets and how a car is designed and assembled.
This will involve working closely with programme to ensure a good quality BoM is provided and validated. Full liaison with Purchase to include nominated part costs, as well as tight integration with the Project Finance team (Project Controller) to ensure timely and accurate reporting. The individual would also need to be involved in the change control process and ensure accurate tracking of change costs. It will also involve tight integration with the Senior Cost Engineer to include tracking for ‘should cost’ (where applicable) against the BoM.
This is a vital role that would have ownership of accurate tracking and reporting to ensure once the car has gone into production, there are no surprises from a cost perspective once the vehicle is handed over to production and the cost of sales team.
As part of this role, full training will be given into utilising our advanced cost estimation software. This will give you the opportunity to enhance or develop your estimation skills and knowledge and work on areas of the car that you might not have had prior exposure. Working closely with the Senior Cost Engineer, you’ll have the chance to expand your remit to include estimates for programme change content, as well as moving on to fully costing systems, and processes, which will stand you in good stead for new opportunities as we continue our product expansion.
