Altran are recruiting for a manufacturing quality engineer to undertake a role within the Aerospace sector, based at one of our prestigious client’s sites various locations I the UK.

The quality engineer will support the sites drive to zero defects and also its Defects per unit (DPU) reduction program to reduce concession input.

Your role

The Manufacturing Quality Engineers role is responsible for:
Analysis and categorisation of non-conformance data using tools such as Pareto and heat maps.
Undertaking root cause problem solving activities, leading to the successful implementation of corrective actions
The candidate shall have an excellent working knowledge using Management and Production Systems
Create Rework Processes on low risk features and where achievable, implement those into the FPD by raise of issue
Experience of product reactivation management development and delivery of the Re-activations Process for procurement via DWI maintain process updates throughout the introduction phase of the business change
working woth new and existing suppliers to ensure that the
Generate RQSCs across range of Critical products
Complete First Article Inspection (FAI) and Fixed Process Definition (FPD)
Knowledge and application of the concession process
Developing Project Plans
Ownership of DPU corrective action report for non-dimensional non-conformance
Managing audit and surveillance activities.
Primary point of contact and able to offer advice on quality assurance matters
The candidate shall have a wide breadth of experience in manufacturing, material lab approvals and associated knowledge in the control of change processes, including experience of workload management. Experience and an understanding of machining, joining and inspection processes of complex aerospace products is necessary to enable detail investigation of the methods of manufacture and design definition
Your profile

Experience and Knowledge

Proactive approach and the ability to work under your own initiative.
Understanding of different types and forms of non-dimensional non-conformance.
Experience of using process mapping techniques.
Ability to collect and analyse data from a variety of different sources.
Interpretation of drawings, technical specifications, and product control documentation.
Knowledge and application of FAIR, LAIR and FPA processes.
Understanding and application of lean manufacturing techniques and processes.
6 Sigma experience – Green belt preferred.
Passion to drive change in a challenging environment and the ability to solve complex problems
Good understanding of manufacturing processes including, turning, milling, grinding, EDM, welding, shot peening and polishing.
Experience of lifting and work handling equipment.
Working knowledge of systems including SAP, NX, CAPP, eConsession.

Additional Experience and Skills:
Experience in leading the development of customer/supplier relationships.
Use of Minitab and Measurelink.
Visual inspection techniques.
DMAIC, 8D, PPAP, PFMEA, DFM, SPC, 6M.
Control Plans.
Cause & Effect Analysis - 3Cs, 5 Whys, Ishikawa.
Gauge R&R, MSA.
