Thales Belfast has an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to undertake a 9- 12 month fixed term internship within our Engineering Team as an Aerodynamics & Structures Assistant Engineer. Obtaining experience and exposure on a variety of programmes and projects, you will be working as part of a team on the design and development of innovative technical solutions that meet customer requirements and business needs . Work covers all aspects of the product lifecycle, from requirements capture and analysis through to validation and qualification. This is an ideal opportunity for a student or equivalent to gain excellent industry experience, working alongside a diverse workforce of graduate, trainee and experienced professionals.
Primary Purpose of the Role:
Undertaking a varied role, tasks will vary on a day-to-day basis; you will be provided excellent training and guidance within the Structures and wider Engineering team. Key tasks will be aligned to assisting the Aerodynamics, Structures and Materials Engineers at Thales Belfast, but you will also get opportunity to collaborate with other teams across the UK. Key duties will include but will not be limited to:
Analysis and evaluation of new weapon systems
Hardware development for weapons and weapons integration systems
Liaison with other engineering departments

Currently Studying an Engineering & Science related degree or equivalent (preferably in second or third year of degree programme)
Excellent problem solving skills with a genuine appetite to systematically solve problems end-to-end
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as individually
Knowledge of CAD,CFD and FEA would be desirable.
Comfortable with IT packages such as Microsoft office
For this particular opportunity, you must be eligible to work in the UK and it also requires the individual to be able to obtain full Security Clearance (SC). Please refer to the UKSV website for further information regarding restrictions and limitations.
