We’re one of the UK’s biggest retailers, a multi-brand multi-channel operation, that needs transformative tech to underpin everything we do. And in this area of our business, we’re focused on doing exactly that - enhancing the speed, flexibility and efficiency of our applications by providing best-in-class platforms and tools that colleagues and customers alike love to use.
We’re bold in our thinking and we’re given the space to try new things, creating amazing solutions that enable the business to move faster and better and that enrich the working days of hundreds of thousands of our colleagues. We use cutting-edge tech to allow the build of applications to happen at pace and enable colleagues to be fully productive and collaborative anywhere they need to work, keeping every colleague and customer connected to our technology in a way that works for them.
As an Engineer (Devices), you’ll be part of a team who are responsible for designing, implementing and improving hardware solutions and managing these solutions. You’ll have a good understanding of mobile operating systems, all of which is required to deliver the Sainsbury’s Tech vision. You’ll work in a team, along with other technical disciplines, to drive competitive advantage within the retail industry and deliver improvements to the Hardware used in our stores, depots, store support centres and by field based colleagues.
You’ll be someone who loves to make things happen and gets excited about identifying and delivering simple solutions to complex problems, at pace in the dynamic Retail industry. A knowledge of operating systems including iOS, Android and Windows, or mobile device management solutions like Workspace ONE, JAMF, SCCM and SOTI would be advantageous but not all are essential.
We use a variety of tech here, so you need to be willing to pick up new tools and techniques. We’d also like you to be yourself – analytical, curious and unafraid to challenge the status quo. You’ll be a role model for best practices, championing a customer centric mindset and a passion for finding creative ways to solve problems, mentoring fellow engineers as a progressive member of the engineering community.
