This is an exciting opportunity to work in a leading edge manufacturing engineering team tasked with the transformation of a traditional manufacturing site to one living and delivering Operational Excellence. To develop process, equipment, material flows and methods to deliver manufacture to World Class standards that maximize the efficient use of resources and labour. Delivering significant and sustainable gains to the bottom line of the Dundee Manufacturing Centre.
Research, design and build of new processes and methods to introduce to the Dundee Manufacturing Centre.
Contribute to a cross functional team environment with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Planning to realise improved time to market with enhanced operations capability.
Invent and innovate on a day to day basis. Be encourage in best practice visits to develop a portfolio of improvement ideas to implement.
Use of lean manufacturing principles within the team and the wider factory.
Interact with development engineering to ensure design for manufacturing (DFM) issues are addressed and incorporated in new designs.
Lead NPI Implementation activities
Lead factory layout and process changes
Candidate Experience and Qualification:
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience within a manufacturing/production/operations development role, preferably with a mix of assembly disciplines
A degree in engineering or manufacturing
Experience or exposure in Project Management is desirable.
Experience of working within an environment of continuous improvement & lean manufacturing. Demonstrable exposure to and application of the following is preferred; Operational Excellence, Continuous improvement activity, Lean Manufacturing, Health and Safety at Work Requirements, Poke-yoke, 5S. Some New Product Introduction exposure is desirable.
Self-motivated and proactive with a drive to learn and develop new skills/understanding in delivery of the Key Responsibilities outlined above.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (PC literate).
Team player and flexible in approach to work.
Candidates should be accepting of limited travel.
Motivated and driven – able to work diligently to seek out operational excellence opportunities and develop for implementation.
