Job Description Summary
This new role will drive increased Parts orders in the P&L through a focus on service excellence and customer responsiveness. The successful candidate will optimize Parts management to ensure customer satisfaction, aftermarket business sustainability and build an incremental commercial pipeline.
Working within UK Services Sales team, with strong ties to the P&L Parts team, Parts Engineering Centre of Excellence (CoE) and local Product, Services and Engineering teams, the Parts Sales Application Engineer will:
Be the UK P&L Parts Engineering expert: provide the engineering response for customer queries and requirements.
Level 1 engineering response. All queries are logged and quoted by the Parts Quote team. Where additional engineering support is required, the Parts Sales Application Engineer will answer the queries. This may include written responses, and customer meetings.
Liaise with level 2/3 Engineering and Parts Engineering CoE. Act as the single point of contact with the engineering and Parts Engineering CoE for more complex technical requirements on parts queries.
Manage obsolescence: proactively identify obsolete parts and with the Product and Engineering teams, establish solutions for the UK P&L designed / manufactured parts. This will require collaboration with:
Global Supply Chain to capture and anticipate all Parts service life notifications with potential impact on the service supply chain. Also, to develop service continuity solutions, including new source, redesign, repair, Last Time Buy, Inventory strategy.
Engineering and Service Leaders to define and prioritize action plan to secure a continued service parts fulfillment after product end of sales.
Parts Engineering COE to ensure the Parts Catalog lifecycle data is timely and accurate, with any associated replacement solutions.
Marketing and Commercial teams to cascade product life notification across our customers installed base with associated sales campaigns.
Fleet Managers to elaborate obsolescence reports as part of customer LTSAs.
Develop parts lifecycle management processes: work with the global Parts product growth champion community to develop and implement a Parts lifecycle, from service readiness through to obsolescence and any strategy to continue support after the end of the product life.
Define standardized parts packages: work with the Parts Engineering COE and Sales teams to identify spare parts “building blocks” to leverage for future deals.
Lead parts campaigns strategy: identify, commercialize and monitor Parts campaigns for the P&L, with the support of the Parts Engineering, Quote and Sales teams. Tailor the right campaign offer and define the stocking strategy for those parts with the support of the inventory team.
Support parts strategy for large projects: liaise with the Projects, Parts Engineering CoE, Parts and Segment Sales teams (Marine & Industry) to define the Parts strategy for large projects when they move into Service.
Establish demand and inventory plan: for the UK P&L designed / manufactured parts, anticipate demand volume, and work with the inventory team to establish a stock plan.
Co-ordinate cross P&L engineering support: act as the key contact and co-ordinator for engineering support requests from other P&Ls.
Required skills and experience
2-5 years experience with GE Power Conversion business / products or similar field i.e. LV/MV Drives, Automation etc
Good analytical skills, able to articulate issues and solutions.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Technical degree or equivalent (HND / HNC)
Customer focused mindset: customer interaction will be required.
