Primary Purpose of the Role:
This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer with experience within the aerospace or defence sector. The purpose of this role is to perform structural analysis using closed form and empirical techniques to support the delivery of Thales programmes. Use of ANSYS Revision 19 Finite Element Analysis and CATIA Computer Aided Design is a requirement for this role. This role allows you to work across the whole engineering lifecycle for new
developments, supporting existing Thales solutions or supporting the design and development of bespoke projects.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
To develop innovative and cost effective solutions which meet the design requirements within the constraints of the programme budget and schedule.
To analyse and evaluate new weapon system requirements and establish the feasibility and design approach within area of expertise.
To specify weapon system design criteria within area of expertise, particularly with respect to performance, engineering features, interfaces and testing requirements.
To monitor and analyse technical progress on current projects through liaison with all engineering departments and attendance at project meetings to ensure compliance against the design requirements.
To assume responsibility for all aspects of the design activities within area of expertise as part of an Integrated Project team.
To prepare technical reports, development specifications and production test documentation.
To maintain and ensure compliance to related design processes and procedures.
Structural analysis of design and development project
Engineering calculations and validation
Knowledge of ANSYS, CATIA V5
Structural test requirements
Modal analysis, vibration analysis, impact analysis, materials analysis/selection
Non-linear static and dynamic analysis.
Analysis experience using finite element analysis (ANSYS) tool
Experience of computer aided design (CATIA V5) tool
Practical experience of test requirements specification
Practical exposure to hardware interface specification, design & test
Experience of modal analysis, vibration analysis, impact analysis, materials analysis/selection
A BEng (Hons) degree or equivalent in aeronautical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
