We currently have an opportunity for a Process Control Engineer to work out of our Beckton Sewage Treatment Works. As the successful candidate you will be responsible for the effective day to day running of the Sewage Treatment Works. This will be done by using SCADA and responding to specific situations to ensure that all relevant processes are brought under control or escalated to an event. In addition to this you will be the responsible person on site at certain times you will be responsible for directing the Process Technicians to ensure that services are delivered in accordance to Thames water standards.
As the Process Control Engineer you will find that no working day is the same. This will provide a very interesting, challenging and rewarding working environment. You will also be working at one of the biggest sewage treatments works in Europe and will receive full training and support for the Health & Safety, technical and process requirements related to the plant.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
Being responsible for the overall operation of the Sewage Treatment Works, the plant and equipment
Monitoring, collating and reporting data to ensure that statutory and regulatory compliance is met, and the site meets regulatory quality standards and customer demand
Processing faults and advise suitable rectification by first fix, raising issues to the Maintenance Scheduler or Team Leader as required
Assisting with on-site capital project works, co-ordinate maintenance and operational personnel raising reactive work when required
Regularly collecting water samples from around the site and complete basic laboratory analysis on them
Monitoring stock levels and request and take deliveries as required
Undertaking safety and security checks and taking responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues
Operating and monitoring the processes from the Control room using SCADA, and where necessary, go into the process area to carry out operations and when required, inspect the process area
Undergo training in safety procedures including confined space entry
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
Qualification in a technical discipline would be advantageous as well as being an Appointed Persons for HV (electrical work)
Previous working experience within the wastewater process
Experience of working with SCADA
The ability to coordinate as well as prioritise your work schedule
The ability to be able to work unsupervised and be prepared to work both day shift and/or operate on a 12-hour continental shift pattern as and when required
Must be fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems
Must have a full UK driving licence
