Our Development Infrastructure team specialises in providing sustainable development infrastructure solutions from planning, through to full implementation. We provide high level advice to private and public sector clients on planning and design issues relating to Highways, Public Realm, Signal Design, Sewerage, SUDS, Building Drainage, Earthworks, Flood Protection and Utilities Coordination/Diversion on Residential, Retail, Industrial, Commercial, Educational and Healthcare Developments in the UK.
The team also works closely with other WSP disciplines on high profile major multi-disciplinary projects.
Regionally, we operate through our northern offices in Manchester, Wrexham, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow. We are seeking an enthusiastic Engineer level Infrastructure engineer, based in our new and growing Manchester office, to provide regional support to the development infrastructure capability in the North West.
A typical week would include:
Working within teams to produce designs, drawings and specifications to support planning and technical applications and construction
Being active on several projects and client accounts at any given time
Reporting to a Principal Engineer or Associate
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
Preferably hold a civil engineering degree (or minimum HNC in Civil Engineering) with experience in highway or drainage design
At the more experienced level, you will have strong post graduate experience in a civil engineering working environment
Understand drainage and highway design principles (layout, etc.) and are able to use one or more of the following; the design of drainage systems & sewers using WINDES, highways using PDS or Civils 3d (or similar software packages) together with experience in applying Highways Agency, Local Authority and Water Company design guidance
Have the ability to produce specification documents (NBS or similar) and the ability to work with more senior and junior staff in producing designs
Have good written and spoken communications skills, and the ability to work as part of a team
Are able to contribute to masterplans, site appraisals, write technical reports to support planning applications, design calculations and construction drawings
Are able to prepare designs for drainage and highway schemes and/or flood risk assessments and SUDs designs. This will potentially include designs for Contract Documents and S278, S104 and S38 Adoption Agreements.
All staff are encouraged and assisted to progress their training towards ICE Incorporated or Chartered status, with internal and external training opportunities provided.
