The role of the Site Engineer is to take full responsibility for overall contracts setting out and site management functions allocated by the Site Manager during site occupancy. The Site Engineer also ensuring site safety is maintained in line with ESD standards as well as maintaining and maximising quality of service and profitability.
Assist the Site Manager in the initial site set-up, actively installing ESD systems and procedures
Rigorously apply effective planning techniques, method analysis and controls to ensure the most effective and continuous use of resources
Ensure method statements and risk assessments are appropriate for work being carried out
Responsible for developing the construction element within the PEP.
Co-ordinate site setting out to satisfy contract programme requirements, delegating or carrying out setting out as necessary
Ensure standard ESD procedures are adopted in carrying out setting out operations
Ensure that effective methods of communication are used in transmitting information to operatives and subcontractors
Ensure accurate record/sketches of setting out are kept.

Setting out the works to company standards and contract programme requirements, ensuring effective methods of communication are used in transmitting information to operatives and subcontractors
Actively leading and responsible for the monitoring of the quality of the works in conjunction with the Test and Inspection Plan and maintaining as built records
Assisting the Site Agent/Manager in the initial site set-up, actively installing Company systems and procedures
Assisting the site management team to engender the HS&E culture on site to meet ESD’s stringent targets and expectation
Assist in the planning and programming of all on and off site activates
Adherence to all ESD’s Business Management Systems
Helping to ensuring a suitable level of customer engagement is maintained, using ESD’s support services where appropriate
Assisting in the budgetary control of all construction activities including close liaison with the commercial team
Compile data and records to assist the Site Agent and commercial team to monitor resources utilised and determine activity costs
Interaction with design team where appropriate
Maintain good relationships with the Client’s site staff
Be aware of the need to satisfy customer requirements with the aim of enhancing the customers’ perception and satisfaction.
H&S and Environment:
Actively support the Site Manager in maintaining and enforcing safety standards as required by statute and in accordance with the ESD Safety Policies
Recognise that Health and Safety considerations are central to all tasks and contribute to ensuring safe working environment for all.
Quality & Document Control
The policy is to create and maintain a culture whereby everyone is continually seeking to satisfy their customers’ requirements. Engineers will actively lead this initiative
Will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the works in conjunction with the Test and Inspection Plan
Maintain as built records
Understand and implement the Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies and Targets
Comply, as appropriate, with the processes contained within the BMS
Suggest improvements to the BMS when they become apparent.
Experience and Qualifications:
Good Communication Skills
Excellent IT skills – with experience of using PowerPoint, excel, outlook and use of the internet
Fully conversant with the use of surveying instruments
Conversant with setting our techniques
Good record keeping
Good administration skills
