This role is working with British Gypsum at our East Leake Works Plant which is part of the Saint-Gobain group, and the UK’s leading manufacturer of interior lining systems. Our mission is to develop innovative products and services that help customers build better spaces to live, work and play.
What impact will you have in this role?
In this role as Quality Engineer you will work closely with the Production Team to improve production processes and quality control. That will include;
Accurately recording and organising data to be able to provide key measures and metrics on Quality performance and make informed strategic recommendations.
Ensuring compliance to quality policy, standards, requirements, and regulations – making sure we maintain up-to-date industry certifications.
Being responsible for managing internal and external audits and managing, implementing, and reviewing the corrective / preventive action processes.
Coordinating investigations into all returns, complaints, non-conformances and any other post-market issues to be able to identify route causes and recommend improvements where appropriate.
What kind of person are we looking for?
First and foremost, we always want to recruit talented people that align well with our values and way of working. In addition to the five Saint-Gobain attitudes we shared at the start, suitability for the role is always key – to perform well in this position you will;
Be educated to a minimum of degree level in relevant engineering, manufacturing or business systems discipline – or have the experience as a Quality Engineer within a manufacturing environment, with relevant industry qualifications.
Have a strong understanding of industry standard approaches to root cause corrective action using techniques such as Kaizen, Lean, 8D, Six Sigma, etc…
Be experienced in auditing against ISO 9001 – with lead auditor qualification preferred. Knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 an advantage.
Be experienced in driving Continuous Improvement and Quality Management Systems in a fast moving manufacturing environment.
Have excellent written and verbal skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Have a high level of competency with Microsoft Office suite and statistical analysis.
