Would like to play a key role within the Product Verification Team, Materials & Manufacturing Airframe Delivery department of BAE Systems Air. We currently have a vacancy Product Verification Development Engineer at our site in Samlesbury.
As a Product Verification Development Engineer, you will play a role in determining whether a manufactured part is acceptable for use per the design intent inclusive of part integrity, metrology and performance characteristics. With new materials and manufacturing processes being embraced by the aerospace industry, it is essential that we can determine whether a part is fit for or alternatively not fit for purpose at the earliest opportunity within the manufacturing cycle at the lowest cost to the business.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with subject matter experts within this area in order to develop technology and meet our product verification requirements. This will enable the team to look at developing processes and technologies to ensure anything made has been made correctly and to correct specifications
Your main responsibilities as a Product Verification Development Engineer will involve:
Your skills and qualifications:
- Leading the development of existing, new and novel inspection methods to support new manufacturing methods, materials used and programme requirements (to include AI driven assisted and automated data analysis)
- Working closely with our existing manufacturing operations & governance teams to capture their challenges and insert technology to resolve their challenges and enhance performance.
- Integration of in-process and in-line inspection data with traditional post manufacture NDT data and other verification systems to verify the integrity and acceptability of a product into existing and new manufacturing processes.
- Supporting and managing technology developers, universities and OEMs working with BAE Systems in the field of product verification to help deliver the product verification vision/road map.
- Representing BAE Systems at appropriate forums
Qualified to degree level in engineering or a science-based degree (or equivalent qualification/experience), and be familiar with traditional and modern materials used in an aircraft manufacturing environment, both from a hands on and fundamental characteristics perspective
Experience of physical NDT application
Research and Development, process and technique development experience
Qualifications to EN4179 or ISO9712 are not required (get clarification on this)
An understanding of I4.0 concepts and vision is essential
Experience with AI preferred
