Do you possess a mechanical & electronic Engineering background, looking to apply your knowledge and skills to a new challenge? We may have the perfect opportunity for you!
The Role:
As part of Through Life Support Engineering (TLSE), we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced M&E engineer to join our team as a Component Engineer, creating and delivering service solutions to our customers throughout the life cycle of the product. Working and collaborating with a team of specialists, you will be aligned to support programmes, primarily SSOP, a highly strategic and integral service programme to Thales UK. This programme requires dedicated Component Engineering resource, pulling and coordinating output from multiple Thales sites – Electronic Warfare systems from Crawley, Sonar capability from Templecombe and Cheadle and Optronics from Glasgow. Your role will be to provide technical expertise and support for product, equipment and systems, acting as a point of contact for solutions and enquiries of the components. Key activities include:
To develop an understanding of components and their relation to our products and services
To be accountable for the validation of selected components and suggest alternatives where applicable
To address obsolescence issues arising in our products, systems and projects
To deliver work packages related to services offered by component engineering (e.g. RoHS, REACH, Trade Compliance, Counterfeit management, LTB and PCN notices and resolutions)
To understand and manage the different solutions required within different scenarios (e.g. Materials, Chemicals, Standards, Software)
To provide technical expertise to sub-divisions which relate to the components and to effect improvements to the processes and related equipment
To manage workload and communicate issues in a timely manner that does not impact upon the delivery of support to the customer
To initiate, approve, issue and present any documentation covering this work
To produce estimates for packages of work
To ensure effective collaboration between engineering and other disciplines in the execution of all works relating to the components
To provide progress reports as required by company procedures and practise
About you:
We are looking for a motivated and positive Engineering professional with experience and knowledge of electronic and mechanical related engineering. This does not necessarily need to be in obsolescence or component engineering; there will be plenty of support on hand to ensure knowledge development in the processes, practices and domain in this team. Working knowledge of the makeup of circuit boards and electronics would be beneficial. Good communication skills and internal passion and resilience for excellent service through innovation is key.
