Position Title: New Product Introduction Fitter/Technician
Reporting to: NPI Supervisor
Hours of work: 39 HOURS 8.00 AM – 4.45 PM MONDAY – THURSDAY, 8.00 AM – 2.00 PM FRIDAY
The New Product Introduction Fitter/Technician will be responsible for supporting the repair and integration of new design solutions to Prototype mobile screening products, with further responsibility for conducting appraisals and machine testing. They will also support the compilation and control of information gathering on Prototype machines in order to capture feedback ‘first time’ with the aligned goal to delight our customers in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible, to better perform the key processes and to increase focus on efficiency, moving our organisation towards a more efficient and "lowest total cost" organisation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the NPI supervisor to support the prototype testing by carrying out repairs, retro-fits and tests in a safe, timely and efficient manner to the highest of quality standards
Carry out basic machine operations and maintenance, to replicate the tasks typically carried out by end users
Carry out mechanical repairs that may include but not limited to: welding and cutting, slinging and lifting, fitting hydraulics components etc.
Carry out engineering retro-fits which will require: interpretation of engineering drawings/instructions, planning with consideration to Life saving behaviours, completion of retro-fit, detailed feedback on process and effectiveness of retro-fit
Carry out typical end of line tests to ascertain machine performance and to inform decisions required for further adjustment: screenbox readings, belt speeds, bearing temperatures
Liaise with Lead Engineers to ensure full understanding of tasks and to provide concise and comprehensive feedback
Ensure that all information is accurately recorded and documented (i.e. Design or manufacturing snags, Machine hours, screenbox G readings, bearing temperatures etc.)
Appraise and provide feedback on suitability of Design for Manufacture
Flexible in terms of hours worked and travel on short notice when and where is necessary
Experience and Qualifications
Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Engineering or relevant discipline (Equivalent Experience may be substituted)
Experience with the assembly and/or development of material handling/ processing heavy equipment.
A good understanding of the various applications that the equipment can operate in along with an appreciation for the expected performance of the machines.
Excellent technical expertise in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic systems (welding experience is an advantage). Hands-On and a practical person with an interest in the development of mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical systems.
Knowledge and familiarity with various test equipment and be capable of the instrumentation of a machine to record various machine performance outputs.
A strong bias towards using technical knowledge, observation and instrumentation to carry out complex trouble shooting tasks e.g. root cause of low screenbox speed
Familiarity of 3D Viewer programmes
Creativity, innovative thinking and excellent problem solving skills.
Good English communication skill, both written and spoken;
Good Presentation and interpersonal skills
