The Software Engineer will be part of the Digital Research team within Bodleian Digital Library Systems and Services. The Digital Library supports and develops tools and services to further the teaching, learning, and research objectives of Bodleian Libraries and the wider University of Oxford.
The Digital Research team develops a variety of tools and services, including our flagship platform for the delivery of digitised collections, Digital Bodleian, and a number of discovery tools that enable researchers to find and access the riches of the Bodleian’s Special Collections. The team utilises a number of technologies and standards including the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), TEI, and EAD metadata standards.
Applicants for this position must have a demonstrably strong technical background. Applicants with experience in cultural heritage institutions, arts and humanities, or digital humanities are especially welcome. A portfolio of past work, preferably published with commit histories on GitHub, should be provided with the application.
This post is fixed-term for 2-years, working 37.5 hours per week.
